Have been to the Groomer

Was at the groomer's today. What a relief to get all that hair off my skin. The coat on my back is quite rough, a bit like those wire-haired dogs, so it can only be trimmed every 3 months when it's long enough.

My groomer, dear Annamaria Wilhelm, is a friend of my previous owner in Romania, and she was instrumental in finding my new owners here in Switzerland. She is also a highly decorated breeder and certainly knows everything about Westies. 

I love the 45 mins car ride to our appointments, but I don't like the trimming on my back too much as my skin is rather sensitive. So I squeak a bit during that procedure, just to be called a drama queen (growl ...).  On the other side, I can quickly meet her three Westies and say hello. That's always nice. One of her pack was even a friend in Romania. We Westies get around, hu !

Annamaria also started the Facebook based organisation that helps Westie grommers in the Ukraine. Great job !!

Hot !

29°C this afternoon. Hot. Don't want to move. And it's not even summer. Shade, please. Westies are not made for heat, we're Scottish by nature 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Out and About with my Friends

Today was a very sunny and warm day (which I, as a Scottish girl, do not like it too hot). But chasing around with my friends is just too much fun. We drove up the hill and parked at the shooting range. Yes, the Swiss men are obliged to go shooting regularly as long as they're in the army's reserve. No shooting today though. 

On a field we came by, a farmer had harvested whatever crop grew there before and was now distributing some dusty fertiliser, probably from a chicken farm with all those white feathers on the ground. That got Aysha and Cocoa on the plan. They pelted across the field, ignoring the farmer's large trailer moving around. And Cocoa would not want to listen when he was called. Ran even further away. Naughty boy !!

In the end we all sat panting in the shade, ready to walk into the woods. There was a small stream, and I dared to wet my paws. Uh uh, am not used to that. Later we came by a lovely water fall and who ran to the edge almost slipping down? Cocoa again. So he had to go on the lead for the remainder of the stroll.

At the end, all exhausted from the heat, we were asked to sit down for a photo session. As if! We all still had ants in our bums. This is the best we could do:

1 Year in Switzerland Today 🇨🇭

One year ago to the day, I embarked onto a long car ride of 18 hours from Transylvania in Romania via Hungary, Slovenia and Italia to Switzerland. What a ride, along with 2 other (em)barking Westies, and a few pit stops. I love to ride in a car, but they were a nuisance. Young kids, hu ...

We were declared customs at the border in Chiasso, Ticino, and shortly after I was handed over to my new family in Switzerland, Gabi and Alex. Oh, they smelled nice and greeted me so very friendly. They had a new foldable kennel for me on the back seat of their car, which made me feel comfortable straight away. And some nice treats.

From there, I napped all the way to my new home, which is in a village by a lake called Greifensee. It was spring, loads of flowering plants and green, and so many new smells. So much to process! 

I had lived most of my 3 ½ years of life in big gardens only, together with other Westies, which was good, too. But there was a whole new world out there for me to discover to the very day. And cats, and cows, horses, sheep, alpacas, and other dogs, birds to run after. And people. I'm loving it, my forever home. 💗

 

Can I Trade my Toy for Food?

Was on my after-dog-dinner-mission carrying my favourite toy around to find a perfect spot to hide it. There was action in the kitchen all of a sudden! Heck, no time to find a hiding place. Clever me thought I could trade it in for more food ...... waiting ......

...... didn't work 🙄

Two Vacuum Cleaners in the House?

Now they even call me 'floor vacuum cleaner' ... meet my sister. I'm not amused ... 🙄
